The future

The dress you buy for “one day”, and the shoes to go with it. Saving the best for the special occasion that may or may not happen.

One day I’ll go to ……. One day I’ll do ……

One day

One day

And what happens when there isn’t a one day?

All we have is the present moment, and the future is an abstraction; it can be gone in the time it takes to blink, but so much is saved, planned for the future.

An eventual outcome that may not come to pass.

Seems a lot of effort for a fairytale? A dream, a fantasy, whatever you wish to call it.

And right now? What thought goes into that?

No, no, let’s not worry about today, let’s plan for the future and retirement, because planning for 30 years from now makes the most sense. You may not even know what world you are in by then, but one thing you will know is that you wasted your youth planning your death, and that will be depressing.

What if the end is sooner than you think? What would you do differently?

What would you do with the time you have now?
