The 80s – Top 10 hits

Tonight a friend told me she had read the whole blog, she loved it, then asked me….

“Aren’t you done yet?”

“HA! You don’t know who I am? I haven’t even started yet, pull up a chair, and enjoy the show”, I responded with a grin and a giggle.

“Don’t worry, we’re watching and enjoying the show” she replied.

Quite a few people log on here every day, so I must be entertaining. Hopefully, they will all migrate to the new blog when I finally finish it. We’ll see how long that takes, you know I’m renowned for my laziness. No one to whip me into action either *sigh*.

At least I did my blog all on my own, instead of like Mr. monkey cheating and going through the WordPress site. Oh, shit does that sound a tad bitchy? Sorry, not sorry.

Today when I was bored I somehow got the idea to look up 80’s music and ended up doing an 80s music marathon today on youtube. The random thought popped into my head (a dangerous place that)  most of the guys I’ve dated in recent times missed the 80s completely. They totally missed it. And there was some good music too! I suppose it’s ok, they are cute at least. (well depending on who you ask of course)

So here it is, my top 10 favs. All from the 80s before most of the guys I’ve been shagging were born. By the way, dancing to loud music at 3 am on a Monday is normal here in Switzerland? (well I guess officially it’s Tuesday now, and by now 4 am) 🙂

Just about anything by Depeche Mode still is awesome, although my son says their songs make someone want to kill themselves. Bad taste in music he has. I also wrote an epic piece that holds the same title.

Sting, is another one who can’t make a bad song. Fucking awesome, and British like moi 🙂 And it’s a song everyone loves but doesn’t even understand what it’s about, got to love the uneducated.

In case you need to wake up now, fast paced and awesome, yeah it’s called Maniac, no jokes, cheers.

The puns that could be made from this inclusion…..

Another one bites the dust….. “How do you think I’m going to get along without you when you’re gone?”

“But dreaming’s all I do if only they’d come true”,  I should be so lucky, yes not the 80’s version. This one is better. And  I know the song well, it’s ingrained into my brain. Trust me after being called Kylie for years I know most of her songs and no I’m not so lucky in love either, and also like tall guys.

Could it be the 80’s without this song??? We built this city, although the video confuses me it looks like NYC then the radio bit is “the city by the bay” San Francisco for those of you that don’t know what the city by the bay is. *sigh*

Hold me now…. look at our life now, tattered and torn…. yep you got it babe.

This one is on my fav playlist actually, Bizarre love triangle, life is stranger than fiction sometimes.

and last but not least, 1989 and still not yet born…….

Love song and this is actually mentioned in the upcoming book, a different guy is involved and bubbles are included….. intrigued?

I left off the mushy songs, or songs from musicals, ( I know the words to most of them, not really a CV-worthy skill though, neither are epic BJ’s but they are skills even if Linkedin doesn’t agree!)

  1. Interesting selection, but not my favourite selections from the 80’s which was much more influenced by Australian bands such as Midnight oil, Cold chisel, Hunters and Collectors, Not drowning waving and then the boss and the Nebraska album, then Talking heads, etc. just to name a few.
